KPop Demon Hunters (2025) Movie Review

Right from the start, the striking visuals of KPop Demon Hunters entice the viewer to keep watching. The setup for the film is completed quickly, but it gives you enough background to fully follow the story as it progresses. Generation to Generation, the X of being a Huntr has been passed down from one trio girl group to another as they use their music, and the love of their fans, to keep the Honmoon, a magical barrier between the human and demon worlds, from collapsing.

This year, however, right as the current demon hunter KPop trio, Huntr/x, are about to complete their big performance to strengthen the Honmoon for the next year, the demons try something…a bit different. They form their own boy band, Saja Boys, in order to steal fans away from Huntr/x. This obstacle quickly becomes a distraction for the trio, especially when Rumi (the lead of Huntr/x) and Jinu (the leader of Saja Boys) learn a secret about each other that could throw everything into chaos.

With secrets kept and emotions riding high, Huntr/x must overcome hurdle after hurdle in order to give the performance of their lives, or risk the demons stealing all of their fans’ souls.

I first heard of this movie through Spotify playing one of the songs for me, Golden, to be specific, I really enjoyed the song and was surprised to see it was from that animated Netflix movie everyone’s been talking about recently. After watching the movie, I wish KPop Demon Hunters had gotten a theatrical release, because some of those visuals and the songs would have been amazing to experience on the big screen with a fitting theater sound system.

+ GOOD +

  • Striking animation
  • Powerful songs
  • Fun action sequences
  • Impactful voice acting
  • Strong messaging
